Q: Do I (the customer) get to choose the location of the sitting?
A: Yes, Depending on distance. Multiple locations with some sessions are possible depending on distance between them.
Q: What do I wear?
A: Solid color clothing is best. Sleeveless tops tend to make upper arms look heavier. Avoid clothing with patterns.
Wear clothes you feel comfortable in and that identify you.
Group photos are pleasing to the eye when everyone is wearing the same color tones.
Q: What do I need to bring to my Senior sitting session?
A: Bring the outfits you've selected for your session and don't forget matching shoes and accessories such as jewelry, hats, etc.
Bring at least three outfits. It is normal to bring 2 to 4 outfits to choose from to go with selected backgrounds that are available.
Bring a hairbrush/comb.
Girls...if you wear makeup, remember to bring what you need for touch ups. (such as makeup, q-tips, baby wipes, and tissues). Oh, and a hairbrush. Fingernails will show in many of the images...so you may want to have them clean and trimmed before your session.
Q: Can I bring props to my photo session?
A: Absolutely! In fact, I recommend it! Props bring out the personality of seniors and can also help kids feel more at ease. Some of the best props are hats, stuffed animals, favorite toys, or blankets, musical instruments, sports equipment, skateboards, hobby interests such as painting or reading and anything else that helps tell the story of you. The ideas are endless.
Q: I am considering doing a maternity shoot...when is the best time during my pregnancy?
A: Maternity photos are a great way to start your baby’s photo album. In addition to your individual portrait, you may want to include images of you with your partner/spouse (and your older children if any). The best time for a maternity photo session is at 6 - 8 months of pregnancy. Men’s solid color (white ones are commonly used) dress shirts are a fun wardrobe choice. Bed sheets can also provide a good prop choice.
Q: What location(s) are best for a newborn/baby session?
A: Your home is probably the most comfortable for you and baby so it would be the best choice. Other locations are certainly fine also.
Q: What are good clothing choices for a group/family session?
A: Most group/family sessions are done in the outside environment at parks or your own backyard so keep in mind of the colors that will be used for the background of the portraits. Wearing greens most generally blend into the background therefor not the best choice for color. The best eye-pleasing tip for family or group photos is to dress in the same style and color combination – monochromatic (shades of the same color), complementary, contrasting or primary colors, are some options. This takes some planning, especially for family reunions, but the results are well worth it.
Q: I normally wear eyeglasses, do I have to remove the lenses?
A: If your glasses have an anti-reflective coating you would not need to remove the lenses but if they don't, another idea is to borrow a pair without lenses from the store you bought them from if you are not wanting to remove the lenses from your own glasses. Sometimes none of these ideas are possible, and glare is unavoidable. No worries, we will try different things to reduce glare in your eyeglasses.
*Transition lenses will normally change during outdoor portraits and sometimes during indoor portraits as well so my suggestion would be to see if you can borrow a pair of no lens frames from the store you bought your eye wear from.
Q: Why are your prices so much lower than others in the area?
A: I'm always unsure how to answer this question but the best way is with more than one answer...
It's not because I am any less passionate about capturing your memories.
There are several reasons.....

A: I'm always unsure how to answer this question but the best way is with more than one answer...
It's not because I am any less passionate about capturing your memories.
There are several reasons.....
- One, I do not have an indoor studio to maintain and pay for.
- Two, and this is the main reason why .... While I have the knowledge and equipment to artistically enhance photos (which can be a huge time zapper) I do not do a lot of artistic enhancing unless asked to do so by the client. After talking to several clients, I have found that everyone has different likes and tastes so while some people love the washed out look, the blurred vintage edging and other enhances; there are many people who just want a memory captured, untouched. Artistic enhancing doesn't include the minor touches such as stray hairs and blemishes/pimples. Those are things that I fix and are included in the session prices.
